Distinguished trademark attorney Helma van de Langenberg announced as Managing Director of Novagraaf Netherlands
Amsterdam, 1 January 2023 – Leading IP firm Novagraaf announced today the promotion of Helma van de Langenberg to the role of Managing Director of its Netherlands operations. Helma is a highly experienced IP attorney with considerable expertise in the strategic protection and management of IP rights for international corporations. She has been a linchpin in the Netherlands team for more than 17 years.
Previously Managing Consultant/Partner at Novagraaf in the Netherlands, Helma has built an unrivalled reputation for providing clients with strategic legal advice at every stage of the branding lifecycle. In particular, she focuses on translating corporate strategies into cost-effective trademark protection programs, providing practical and entrepreneurial advice that delivers the right balance for enforcement of contentious actions. Her clients include leading and innovative international companies, particularly those in the food/beverage, food/food technologies and fashion industries.
Helma is recognised in the industry as a ‘transactional specialist’ and ‘prudent adviser who always prioritises client needs, combines in-depth legal analysis with top-drawer client services. Strives to find win-win outcomes in all scenarios’, and ‘is always on the ball’ (World Trademark Review, WTR1000).
As the Managing Director of Novagraaf Netherlands from 1 January 2023, she will be responsible for continuing Novagraaf’s ambitious growth strategy in the country, including strengthening the team and creating superior and memorable Novagraaf experiences for clients.
“I’m thrilled to take the helm as Managing Director of Novagraaf’s Netherlands business and look forward to continuing our trajectory of growth in the region and worldwide,” said Helma on the announcement of her new role. “Novagraaf’s unique blend of strategic consulting and IP legal advice in combination with tech-enabled solutions can make an enormous difference to our local and international client base. In the face of economic pressure and market competition, they need access to our pragmatic IP advice, integrated services and tech-driven solutions now more than ever.”
Helma takes over the position of Managing Director, Netherlands from Max Hübner, who joined the Trademarks team at Questel, Novagraaf’s parent company on 1 January 2023. Commenting on Helma’s appointment, he said: “Helma has distinguished herself in the IP industry and among clients with her diligence and clear-sighted advice. Now, as Managing Director of Novagraaf, Netherlands she will be able to share her experience and knowledge with Novagraaf’s wider client base. I’m excited to hand her over the reins to the Netherlands operations and also to begin the next chapter of my career in the Trademark business at Questel.”
Helma obtained a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Tilburg and is a BMM Certified Trademark Attorney. She started her professional IP career as an attorney-at-law in 2002, joining Novagraaf in 2006. She is an active member of the Benelux Association BMM, the INTA Emerging Issues Committee and PTMG.
