Novagraaf announced as top filer at WIPO; also recommended in WTR 1000 and IP STARS 2018
Leading intellectual property (IP) provider Novagraaf has been announced as the top filer of international trademark rights (IRs) at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2017. The European specialist has also been recommended for its expertise in the 2018 editions of WTR 1000 and IP STARS.
Founded in 1888, Novagraaf is one of the world’s largest trademark filers and a major patent filer, managing more than one million intellectual property (IP) assets on behalf of customers, and representing many of the world’s major patent and trademark owners. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with offices throughout Europe, including London, Brussels, Paris and Geneva, as well as in the US, China and Japan.
Novagraaf gained its status as the top filer of IRs at WIPO, according to international filing statistics published at the end of January by World Trademark Review. These statistics are based on independent research by Corsearch, which compiled a list of the top representative filers at law and IP firms for the 12 months leading up to 31 August 2017 in a number of key jurisdictions.
World Trademark Review has also begun releasing the results of the 2018 rankings for its ‘World’s Leading Trademark Professionals survey’ (WTR 1000), in which Novagraaf appears as a 'recommended' firm. WTR 1000 is the only such ranking to focus solely on the trademark profession, identifying the leading players in 70 key jurisdictions globally, following industry research and client interviews. On Novagraaf, it writes:
“Businesses looking for an ally who will guide them from the initial stages of brand creation to the signing of lucrative rights transfers should consider Novagraaf.”
Adding: "Novagraaf is entrusted by an array of prestigious brand owners to oversee their domestic and international portfolios. Bolstered by top-of-the-range support systems – including its own EasyIP management portal – and an unsurpassed global network of professionals, its teams … work with an overarching focus on quality in jurisdictions around the world."
Novagraaf was specifically recommended in the Benelux and France categories in this year’s guide. Gerard van Hulst and Ingrid Mennens were among the list of Novagraaf experts singled out for their experience.
Managing IP also announced the 2018 results for IP STARS this week, with Novagraaf awarded ‘Tier One’ for its trademark prosecution work in Benelux, as well as being included in ‘Tier Two’ of the France rankings for its trademark filing and prosecution work. The IP STARS rankings are also based on the outcome of interviews conducted by its in-house research team.
Commenting on the firm’s recommendations, Novagraaf Belgium's Managing Director, Ingrid Mennens said: "Novagraaf is proud to retain its status as the top filer of international trademarks at WIPO. Our IP attorneys and back-office specialists work hard to deliver to our clients the strategic advice that they need to inform their global filing programmes. We're happy to see that hard work and dedication are also recognised in the WTR 1000 and IP STARS rankings."
