Leading European Intellectual Property (IP) consultancy Novagraaf announced today the addition of Dr Lisa Clark to its patent practice, further expanding the firm’s IP protection and enforcement capabilities and expertise in the UK. Dr Clark joins as a Patent Advisor in Novagraaf’s Norwich office.
Dr Clark has considerable experience providing patent advice and services to multinationals in the food technology, beverages and Life Sciences sectors. She began her career with a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 2007, after which she relocated to Australia and moved into industry as a medicinal chemist working to produce anti-HIV drugs, for which she was the named inventor on several patent families. She went on to train as a patent and trademark attorney at a leading IP firm, qualifying as an Australian and New Zealand patent and trademark attorney in 2012, and obtaining a Masters in Intellectual Property from Monash University, Australia. After returning to the UK, she worked at a UK academic research organisation as a commercialisation manager before joining Novagraaf.
Specialising in a wide range of patent services including prosecution, portfolio management, oppositions and validity opinions, Dr Clark is passionate about innovation; particularly, the use of patents to bring innovative technologies to market. She enjoys patent prosecution, finding it especially satisfying to achieve patent grants with the broadest possible scope for applicants, as well as freedom-to-operate search and opinions.
Dr Clark will be working with Novagraaf’s UK and US clients to provide tailored patent filing and protection advice with a particular focus on the food and beverages sector. In addition, her recent background in the academic sector makes her well placed to understand the needs of academic clients and related academic institutes.
“Dr Clark’s appointment will further strengthen the food, beverages and Life Sciences expertise of Novagraaf’s patent team, enabling us to meet the needs of our clients across the UK and overseas,” comments Eric Siecker, Managing Director, Patents at Novagraaf UK. “Patents play a crucial role in these innovative sectors, but with budgets often tight, companies of all sizes need expert assistance if they are to capture their valuable IP rights.”
“I’m delighted to be joining Novagraaf UK’s fast-growing Patent Practice,” adds Dr Clark. “I look forward to bringing my experiences and perspectives to the firm’s patent advisory work, and to assist companies in the UK and around the world in this critical and exciting area.”
